Firewood By The Bundle

When it comes to heating your home, different woods perform differently in terms of burn time, heat output (BTU value), ease of lighting, and aroma. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Pine – Quick to ignite, making it excellent for kindling and starting fires. Burns hot but fast with more frequent tending required. Produces a pleasant, resinous aroma but more creosote, so it’s best used for short fires or as a fire starter rather than primary heat.

  • Pinion (Piñon) – A favorite for outdoor fireplaces and chimineas. Burns hot with a steady flame, gives off a distinct, rich pine-like aroma that naturally repels mosquitoes. Produces more smoke than hardwoods, but creates a cozy, aromatic atmosphere.

  • Hardwood Mix – A blend of dense hardwoods like Locust, Ash, Elm. Provides long-lasting heat, balanced coaling, and steady performance. Great for everyday home heating with a mix of burn times depending on the woods in the bundle.

  • Kiln-Dried Oak –  Burns hotter and longer than softwoods with very little smoke or creosote due to the kiln-drying process. Produces excellent coals that radiate heat for hours, making it one of the best choices for efficient home heating.

  • Oak (Air-Dried/Seasoned) – The gold standard for firewood. Dense and slow-burning with high BTUs, oak provides consistent, long-lasting heat and excellent coaling. Takes longer to season than softer woods, but once ready, it’s ideal for overnight burns in wood stoves and fireplaces.

  • Cedar - known for its distinct, slightly sweet, woodsy aroma, created by its natural oils. When burned, it fills the air with a comforting scent while producing minimal ash and a long-lasting, even burn.
